Plum Glazed chicken (Shop for Change)

Kind folks from Fair Trade Org sent us few samples of their feel good and organic products. My bag had these – Plum chutney, Litchi Honey, Mace, Pepper Corns, Guava Jelly, Organic Vanilla powder. I have used Plum chutney and Pepper corns in this recipe of Plum Glazed Chicken. Here’s little info about Shop for Change fair trade NGO.
Their idea is to empower the poor farmers via trade and not aid. They are working with few farmer groups across India and have worked out some amazing exclusive products like chocolate cashew, organic vanilla powder, Chamomile tea, various Herb blends, wild forest honey etc. –  all sourced directly from small farmer groups. So if you into corporate gifting or anything do consider buying these products :) Here’s their Facebook page :) Shop for change! Ohhh and also ltry these yumm drumsticks, Great for a game night or movie night at home, this Plum glazed chicken is quite easy to make. So try it soon! Here’s the recipe –

You need:

8 chicken drumsticks

For marinade:

1 tbsp barbecue sauce

1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

2-3 cloves garlic, crushed

1 tbsp plum chutney, I used Shop For Change’s sourced from Mahila Umang Producers company (extra for basting)

Freshly grounded pepper corns , I used Shop For Change’s

1tsp Mixed herbs, I used Shop for Change’s

1 tsp chilli flakes

You need to:

In a bowl, mix marinade ingredients – bbq sauce, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, plum chutney, salt, pepper n chilli flakes. Wash, clean and pat dry chicken. Prick it with fork and Rub the marinade mixture over drumsticks, let it sit for few hours in refrigerator, I kept mine for 3 hours. Either you can bake them in a baking tray for about 30 -35 min at 190 degree Celsius (In a preheated oven) you would need to turn the side once and baste some plum chutney in between. Or you could use a rotisserie function like I did, It took about 30 min or so. Serve hot wit Chilled beer ;)

I also like what my other bloggers friends have tried specially Shirin’s Baked Potatoes with Plum chutney n home  made herbed ricotta and you could also try Krytie’s Malai Barfi using shop for change’s Nutmeg powder :)

Happy Shopping n cooking!
